Akwa Ibom State Association of Nigeria Canada, Calgary Chapter.

Akwa Ibom State Association of Nigeria Canada Calgary Chapter is a non-profit and non-political organization established to support and unite the Akwa Ibom community members residing in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.


It was established on January 20, 2010, by Akwa Ibom Students on Information Technology (IT) studies and their families. The aim is to provide support, unity, and a sense of community among the Akwa Ibom community members living in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The association is open to individuals (and their spouses) from Akwa Ibom State of Nigeria in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.


Some of the activities involve organizing cultural events, educational programs, and social gatherings such as picnics, meet and greet, Christmas parties, gala/fundraising nights, and other community service initiatives to promote the interests and well-being of its members.


As a non-profit and non-political organization, the Association likely operates according to its constitution or bylaws and is governed by the executive committee elected by its members. The aim is to foster cultural heritage, provide networking opportunities, support newcomers, and engage in community outreach activities.

  • To build bridges so that members can have common grounds for interactions. 
  • To ensure open dialogue for free flow of information  
  • To promote, encourage and foster unity among Akwa Indigenes both home and aboard. 
  • To rekindle the spirit of community living and harmony. 
  • To create job and business opportunities, first for Association members and then for other members of the Community. 
  • To support members financially, morally, etc. whenever the need arises. 
  • To promote social and moral education for our children and future generations. 
  • To act as a liaison between Government at all levels; and governmental and non- governmental organizations.
